KESWICK CONVENTION
July 2012 Thanks to the generosity of the Congregational Church in Keswick we were once again able to join with a number of other Christian ministries in representing the work on a stand at an exhibition in their Church Hall on Lake Road, Keswick during the first two weeks of Convention. There were many visitors and it was great to meet up with quite a number of old friends and also make some new ones, some of whom were already involved in prisons work. Details of the Convention and this year's ministry can be found on their website. |

A "PRAISE THE LORD" HIGHLIGHT
from Keswick Convention July 2011
Here is a “Praise the Lord” highlight from one of the days during the 2011 Keswick Convention.
In the morning, by email, we received a News Update from Justice for All–Prison Fellowship Ethiopia (JFA-PFE) our partners in Ethiopia. Pastor Daniel was in Gonder for the inauguration of a new prison some distance from Gonder to replace the extremely inadequate old one in the city and he had identified a couple of urgent needs.
One of these urgent needs was a motorbike for the chaplain as the new prison is some way outside the city. The other was for a chapel to be built on the plot of land allocated by the prison administration for this purpose.
In the afternoon, Brian and Frances - a couple who have supported the prisons ministry in many ways over many years - chose to travel to Keswick specially to see us. They brought with them the proceeds from their Golden Wedding celebrations when they had asked friends to donate money in support of the work in Ethiopia rather than have presents for themselves.
The amount they brought was the same as the price of the motorbike. That was brilliant. But there’s more! As you will know, with the help of our friends we support the entire Ethiopian Prison Chaplaincy team co-ordinated by JFA-PFE. On checking, we discovered that the Chaplain in Gonder is sponsored by this same couple who have now provided for his transport needs!
We are now raising money to build the chapel - click here to check how we are doing.

SOME ETHIOPIAN PICTURES
Although this website is mostly focused on prisons work, we thought you might like to see some pictures of the beautiful country of Ethiopia - a country five times the size of the United Kingdom. The picture page is a work in progress so we will be adding more pictures as well as possibly changing some from time to time. To view the pictures just click here.

PRISON WEDDING IN ETHIOPIA
We love to share good news in what are generally seen as bad news situations
This is an account sent to us by our partners in Justice for All – Prison Fellowship Ethiopia and now published on the Prison Fellowship website. It tells the story of two life sentence prisoners Asnake and Rihana. Asnake spent 18 years in prison while Rihana stayed in prison for 11 years before their release. They both have interesting stories on how they came to Christ. Asnake was bedridden, suffering from a chronic ulcer while a fellow prisoner ministered to and prayed for him. He was awaiting an operation but the doctor did a check up before his operation and miraculously his ulcer was all gone. Rihana would not even talk to or shake hands with Christians. However, before she was transferred to Dessie Prison a Christian woman told her about the Gospel so when she arrived more Christian women befriended her. Now she is a very passionate Christian.
