1 Sunday. Pray for Christian chaplains as they lead worship and share from God’s word and that those able to attend may be blessed as they praise the Lord together in a sometimes difficult environment.
2 Pray for young people who have committed offences and been given custodial sentences that they will be saved from a life of crime. 3 UK prisons are very full and staff levels reduced following previous policy decisions appear to have contributed to recent unrest. Pray that efforts to correct this by recruiting more staff will be successful. 4 Pray for prisoners who may feel under threat from drugs barons and other “tough” bullies. 5 Pray for more sponsors to help us continue our support for the JFA-PFE prison chaplain coordinators. As well as Bible teaching, leading worship etc. these men and women of God are also able to identify practical needs and help to prioritise them. 6 Pray for our Trustees at this time as they have a meeting today, looking to the Lord for guidance in the detail of the work and its overall focus. To God be the glory. 7 Pray that the Bibles needed among the growing number of new Christian believers in Ethiopian prisons may be able to be obtained. 8 Sunday. Pray for the many Ethiopian prisoners gathering together today for worship including those who still need a chapel. 9 Pray for prisoners who do not have any support from family or friends on the outside that they will still receive help to settle back in the community. 10 Pray for Twinkle of Hope providing much needed support for children in prison with their mothers in Ethiopia. 11 Pray for the JFA-PFE REFUGE project caring in the community for prisoners' children through family support and fostering. 12 Pray for those attending “Sycamore Tree” and other victim awareness courses to help them address their offending behaviour. 13 Pray for “listeners” – prisoners in UK prisons who have been trained by the Samaritans to support fellow prisoners in crisis. 14 Pray for prisoners, victims, families and others affected by imprisonment that those who may be considering suicide may be identified and receive support in their despair. 15 Sunday Pray for prisons in England and Wales where a combination of low staffing levels and the weekend regime can make attendance at Sunday worship services extremely difficult 16 Pray that the improved relationship between Ethiopia and Eritrea associated with the peace initiatives of Dr Abay Ahmed, Ethiopia's Prime Minister, will also help to end the wrongful imprisonment of Eritrean Christians. |
17. Pray for those who are unjustly or inappropriately in prison in many places throughout the world - some denied a fair trial or any trial at all.
18 Pray for prisoners who are seeking something to bring meaning into their lives that they will have opportunity to hear and respond to the good news of Jesus the Saviour of the world. 19 Pray that prisoners who have mental illnesses would be supported appropriately and able to cope with the prison regime. 20 Pray for prisoners in UK prisons who are being seriously affected by the violent environment in which they are living. 21 Pray for prison health care departments attending to many different needs including problems caused by addiction and poor lifestyle choices. 22 Sunday. Pray for prisoners who respond to the gospel message and for their families who may be impacted in different ways by this life changing decision. 23 Pray for our partners JFA-PFE and give thanks for their positive input throughout the justice sector in Ethiopia. 24 Pray for Prison to Prison projects where prisoners in the UK learn about practical needs in Ethiopian prisons and in association with various prison departments get involved in trying to help. 25 Pray for government ministers here in the UK and in Ethiopia as they try to address issues of crime and punishment. May there be a greater readiness to focus on restorative justice with its crime reducing potential. 26 Pray for the families of prisoners – so often suffering on account of their loved one’s behaviour. 27 Pray for the national chaplaincy leadership responsible for prisons in England and Wales - especially that the Christian chaplains working at the "sharp end" will be encouraged and fully supported in their work. 28 Pray for people being released from prison – especially if they have no money, no job prospects and nowhere to live. 29 Pray for Christian Chaplains and for the great opportunities at this time of the year in the lead up to Easter next month and the price Jesus, the sinless one who paid so that all may go free. 30 Pray for staff in UK prisons where there has been an increasing amount of violence making it difficult at times to maintain control. 31 Give thanks for the work of the Gideons and the benefit to prisoners from receiving their own copy of the Scriptures. __________________________________________________________ THE LORD SETS PRISONERS FREE Psalm 146: 7 |
