1 Pray for JFA-PFE projects Twinkle of Hope (caring for children in prison with their mothers) and REFUGE (caring for children in the community with parents in prison). More sponsors are needed for both of these projects.
2 Sunday. Give thanks for opportunities there have been to share the good news of Jesus with the entire prison population in Ethiopian prisons. 3 Pray for prisons in the UK that are struggling to meet the targets assigned by the Government, that in the midst of pressure they will remember they are dealing with people not just ticking boxes. 4 Pray for an increase in Prisoners’ Family Days here in the UK. These can help to strengthen family ties and bonding as well as stimulate awareness of parental responsibility. 5 Give thanks for Christian Groups able to come into prisons and share the good news in a variety of ways including song and leading special courses such as Alpha and Christianity Explored. Pray that many will respond and come to know Jesus as their own personal Saviour and Lord 6 Pray for those working in UK prisons who on limited budgets work to provide nutritious meals including special diets to meet religious or health requirements. 7 Pray for victims of domestic violence - this can be women, men or children - that there will be support, counselling and justice available for them in their need. 8 Pray for members of the justice sector including staff employed in Prison Reception departments as they work with prisoners – especially those who may be coming into prison for the first time. 9 Sunday. Pray for prisoners who work closely with the chaplaincy as chapel orderlies and sometimes as part of the worship team. 10 The UK Government has announced plans to increase staffing levels in prisons. Pray for newly recruited prison staff and for those recently promoted that they may quickly be able to fulfil their new responsibilities and together help to make prisons safer places. 11 Pray for the Ethiopian Prison Chaplains as they co-ordinate ministry in prisons throughout a country 5 times the size of the UK that they also may receive the support they need. More sponsors needed. 12 Pray that the unique life changing gospel message of Jesus' may be heard loud and clear in UK prisons and responded to with its eternal consequences 13 Pray for focused prison Bible study groups and for those who lead them. In addition to those intended to help prisoners who are Christians to grow in their understanding, there are others aimed at helping enquirers to find out more about what it means to be a Christian. 14 Pray that the role of Christian chaplains in the prisons of England and Wales may not be compromised or chaplaincy posts seen as soft targets when funding is limited. |
15 Pray for Governing Governors of prisons as they struggle to keep their establishments safe in the face of increasing violence much of it appearing to be fuelled by new psychoactive substances (NPS).
16 Sunday. Pray that churches and Christian organisations that are working in the criminal justice field will demonstrate unity in the Lord. 17 Pray for women and their children in prison in Ethiopia and for efforts being made to try and improve some of the poverty related conditions. Give thanks for the recent completion of a dormitory in Addis Alem. 18 Pray for the funding necessary for the continuing development of the life changing ministry in Ethiopian prisons. 19 Pray for children affected by the imprisonment of a parent especially when this means long term separation due to a long sentence 20 Pray for prisoners who feel so without hope that they may be at risk of self harming or attempting suicide. Recent reports show a large increase in deaths in custody in the UK. 21 Pray for elderly prisoners who have to cope with the reality of prison life as well as the rigours of old age. Some are in need of almost constant care and it is difficult to understand why, in their extreme frailty, they still need to be held in prison. 22 Pray for gospel opportunities and that the life changing and eternal realities of this good news might be heeded to the glory of God and the blessing of many. 23 Sunday. Give thanks for the many thousands of prisoners in Ethiopia who have responded to the gospel message, received the Lord Jesus as their Saviour, been baptised and who are now eagerly learning more about living as his disciples. 24 Pray for prisoners in UK prisons who have made a Christian commitment and who may be struggling to cope with cynicism, criticism and efforts to get them to go back to their old ways. 25 Pray for discipleship courses that can help to strengthen the faith and give guidance on living as a Christian both in prison and after release 26 Pray for the Bible Study Group in HM Prisons Garth and Wymott led by volunteers Ken Hollands and Paul Edkins 27 Next month is the 46th anniversary of the founding of this Trust. Pray for our Trustees as they seek the Lord's will for whatever may lie ahead 28 Pray for existing and potential victim awareness projects in both the UK and in Ethiopia 29 Pray for prisoners under segregation for whatever reason - some can find the isolation very difficult mentally |
