DAILY PRAYER POINTERS
1 Pray for Ethiopia. In addition to the serious covid-19 pandemic and the plague of locusts there is serious military conflict centred in the Tigray Region and spilling out into other Regions particularly Amhara.
2 Pray for our partners in Justice for All-Prison Fellowship Ethiopia (JFA-PFE) as they continue their efforts to bring and to be good news in the current terrible bad news situation. 3 Pray for the JFA-PFE Chaplain coordinators in Tigray and Amhara who find themselves in locations that are on opposite sides of the serious conflict where thousands have had to flee and many have been killed 4 Pray for the JFA-PFE prison chaplaincy coordinators serving in prisons all over Ethiopia and that more sponsors will be found to support them. 5 Pray that the Bibles needed by the growing number of new Christian believers in Ethiopian prisons may be able to be obtained and distributed in these difficult times. 6 Sunday With "normal" provision for worship and Bible teaching affected by current enforced restrictions pray that ways may still be found to provide good Christian holistic pastoral support and Bible teaching for those in prison. 7 . Pray for the families of prisoners - so often suffering on account of their loved one's behaviour. 8 Pray for prisoners being released at this time of year - especially those who may have spent many years in prison and who never want to go back inside again - as they enter an unfamiliar world, some with no money and nowhere to live. 9 Pray for all the administrative staff working in the prison system and coping with the complexities of navigating the effects of covid-19. 10 Pray for prisoners who do not have any support from family or friends on the outside. 11 Pray for "Listeners" - prisoners who have been trained by the Samaritans to support fellow prisoners in crisis. This can be a busy time for them. 12 UK prisons are very full and in recent times staffing levels have regularly been reduced due to covid-19 infections. Pray for the safety of staff and prisoners. 13 Sunday. Pray for those separated from loved ones at Christmas time through imprisonment - both the prisoners and their families. 14 Pray for Christian Chaplains and for opportunities at this time of the year to point others to Jesus' in spite of the covid-19 restrictions. 15 Never ever forget - Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. Praise His wonderful name! 16 Pray for prisoners, victims, families and others affected by imprisonment that those who may be considering suicide may be identified and receive support in their despair. 17 Pray for prisoners who may feel under threat from drugs barons and other "tough" bullies. |
18 Give thanks for those prisoners who having come to a saving knowledge of Jesus are boldly witnessing in both word and deed to their new life.
19 Pray for the very large number of prisoners in UK prisons with mental health problems that their special needs will be met - especially at this time 20 Sunday. Pray for our Trustees as they seek to focus on the main purpose of this ministry - encouraging and taking part in the preaching of God's life changing gospel message. 21 It is reported that the UK locks up more people per head of population than any other country except the USA. Pray that other ways may be explored for dealing with offenders where there was no criminal intent. 22 The need for restorative justice and rehabilitation programmes in the prisons of England and Wales can be lost sight of with the demands associated with the pandemic. Pray that this need will be recognised and addressed in word and deed. 23 Give thanks for opportunities to provide Bibles for prisoners and pray for those who in the isolation of a prison cell are discovering more about God's salvation plan 24 Pray for prisoners who have come to know Jesus as their Saviour and Lord that they will receive support and encouragement as they explore what it means to live as a Christian believer. 25 HAPPY CHRISTMAS! "Don't be afraid...I bring you good news of great joy for every one! The Saviour - yes the Messiah, the Lord - has been born tonight in Bethlehem, the city of David" Luke 2: 10-11 NLT. 26 Keep praying for prisoners who are looking for some Christian fellowship as they approach release. 27 Sunday. On this last Sunday of 2020 pray for Christian prison chaplains here in the UK and in Ethiopia who have had to face so many unprecedented barriers to their ministry during this year. Pray that as we go forward into 2021 these barriers will be overcome and the joyful gospel message be heard loud and clear. 28 Give thanks to the Lord for the blessings of this past year in spite of all the problems and uncertainties related to the pandemic, pray for ongoing needs and let us trust Him for all that's to come! 29 Pray for the REFUGE project caring in the community through sponsorship for children of prisoners in Ethiopia 30 Pray for Twinkle of Hope providing much needed support for children in prison with their mothers in Ethiopia 31 Pray for a peaceful night in prisons across the UK as some might seek to cause trouble as a way of "celebrating" the new year. _______________________________________________
